Dr. Clément Martinache

Clément Martinache obtained his PhD at the Université Paris-Sud, France in September 2016 and joined the Department of Astronomy as a postdoctoral fellow in July 2017. The main subject of his research as a PhD student has been the construction of a sample of galaxy (proto-)clusters at high redshift, using a multi-wavelength selection with the Planck, Herschel and Spitzer satellites.

His scientific interests focus on observations (mainly in the infrared and millimeter domains) of galaxy clusters at high redshifts in order to understand the physical processes that drive galaxy evolution in these dense environments. Questions he tries to address are the role of the environmental effects, AGN and supernovae feedback in shutting down star formation, and how galaxy clusters assemble their mass.
