Dr. Bidisha Bandyopadhyay
Bidisha is from Jamshedpur, India, and received her Ph.D from the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi.
During her Ph.D, she worked on the various aspects of Cosmic Reionization.
She is working as a post doctoral fellow with Prof. Dominik R.G. Schleicher. Now, she is mainly working on the theoretical and numerical aspect of the accretion physics of nearby AGNs and then compare the models to the data available from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT).
her work mainly involves working on the following aspects:
- Constructing accretion models for a sample of nearby AGNs based on the currently known data in the radio and X-ray regime.
- Deriving predictions for the EHT and investigate how to determine jet opening angles, the jet-launching region and inhomogeneities in the accretion and outflow.
Research experience:
- Studying the effect of Enhanced dark matter annihilation (through enhanced cross sections and clumping of matter) on Helium Reionization.
- Statistical study of simulated HI reigions using the method of Fractal Dimensions.
- Studying the population of stars of some S0 galaxies using their spectra from SALT long slit data.
